The Cursed Dominion

The Marked. Void + Persistence. Void survivors. They tried to warn the world what was coming. The world was too busy hunting them to listen.

“They call us cursed. They call us tainted. They look at the marks on our skin and see corruption. They do not see what we see: the door that did not close all the way. The light that got in. We are not the Void’s victims. We are its survivors. And we remember what it whispered in the dark.”

Doctrine

The Cursed did not choose to be what they are. The Void reached into them during the Void Invasion, and they held. Not consumed. Not corrupted. Marked. The Void left its fingerprints — dark tracery on their skin, voices in their dreams, fragments of knowledge. The Cursed learned to listen. And what they heard terrified them: the Void has not been defeated. It has been contained. The Seal is weakening. The Cursed know this. Other factions do not.

History

The Cursed do not know precisely when they came into being. They know it happened during the Void Invasion — in the spaces between when the Void pressed hardest against reality. The first Cursed were scattered, unrelated, found in every faction and no faction. They were touched by the Void and held. When the invasion ended, the world did not want them. The Cursed were blamed for every misfortune, every strange occurrence, every unexplained death. Persecution lasted for centuries. The Cursed formed hidden communities in the ruins of Void-touched territories — the empty places no one else would settle. In the modern age, they are no longer actively hunted, but deeply mistrusted. They exist in a state of uneasy visibility.

How it plays in EFER

Erosion + displacement. The Cursed gameplay revolves around the Void’s whispers: debuffs that compound, displacement effects that scatter the enemy board, erosion effects that reduce key stats. Mechanically: debuff-heavy, tempo-disrupting, late-game scaling. The lore trade-off: Cursed players know what is coming (the lore-warning mechanic — they see threats others cannot). The cost: other factions see them as tainted and may refuse alliance. Counter-play: clean board states (deny debuff targets), fast aggro (close games before debuffs compound), and direct dispel (cleanse the erosion).
