EFURC v0.2.1 shipped Nov 10 — meta shifted, Eastern Honor broke top 5

EFURC v0.2.1 shipped Nov 10. The first balance patch. Here is the meta-shift recap.

The headline

  • 2,847 unique players in the first week
  • 9,624 matches played
  • Eastern Honor deck broke into the top 5 (was unranked before the patch)
  • Sylvan Heal deck dropped from 28% to 21% of meta (the nerf worked)

The top 5 decks after v0.2.1

  1. Cursed Void — 24% of meta. Up from 22%. Discard + drain still strong.
  2. Sylvan Heal — 21% of meta. Down from 28%. Heal nerf reduced dominance.
  3. Clockwork Engine — 18% of meta. Stable. Echo synergy made it stronger.
  4. Eastern Honor — 14% of meta. Up from unranked. The buff broke it.
  5. Korgax Aggro — 11% of meta. Stable. Still a tier-1 deck.

What changed in the patch

  • Sylvan Elder heal — “draw 2 cards, gain 1 life per card” → “draw 2 cards, gain 1 life.” Now scales linearly instead of exponentially.
  • Void-touched trigger — “10+ life” → “8+ life.” Now triggers in the early-mid game.
  • Echo — Now triggers on bounce (returned to hand). Doubles Clockwork synergy.
  • Honor Duel cost — 6 → 5 mana. Eastern now has a turn-4 play.

What surprised us

The Eastern Honor deck was not on anyone’s radar before the patch. The 5-mana Honor Duel was the missing piece — once Eastern could play it turn 4, the entire deck archetype opened up. We expect Eastern Honor to hit 20%+ of meta in the next month.

What the next patch (v0.2.2) will target

  • Cursed Void — discard cost might be too low. Considering “+1 card +2 life” instead of “+1 card +1 life.”
  • Eastern Honor — if it hits 25%+ of meta, Honor Duel might need a nerf.
  • Void-Touched Scholar — still the engine. Watching closely.

What this means for the EFURC ecosystem

The meta is healthier now than it was at v0.2 launch. 4 factions in the top 5 (instead of 2) means more deck diversity. More deck diversity means more player retention. The patch worked.
