Lore book v2 launches November 17, and since the v2 page went live the most common question has been the fair one: what is actually different? Here is the complete answer, without the marketing voice.
The base
The book is the complete EFER codex — 60,000 words across 8 chapters — the 7 launch factions plus the named NPCs. v1 owners already know the shape. v2 keeps it and goes deeper on every axis at once.
The two new chapters
Chapter 07 — Arctic: “The Endurance” is new. The Arctic Union’s thesis — speed is the enemy of mastery — was the chapter v1 cut for length and the one readers asked for most. It is in.
Chapter 08 — Alliance: “The Bridge” is new. The Alliance chapter finally gets its full treatment: the bridge is more important than the banks it connects. If you read v1 and felt the Alliance chapter ended early — it did. Now it does not.
The EFURC appendix
Every card in the EFURC trading card game gets a lore entry — 55 cards, 55 hooks back into the world. Every faction chapter also gains 6-8 card spotlights with strategy tips, so the book now doubles as the card game’s lore companion. If you play EFURC, this is the section you did not know you wanted.
The commentary track
The part I am most nervous about: 6,000 words of dev commentary woven through the chapters. Every faction decision, every thesis pivot, every chapter that almost did not get written — including the honest version of why the Arctic chapter was cut from v1 in the first place. Writing the commentary was harder than writing the chapters. The chapters are what the world is; the commentary is what it cost.
The cover, and the upgrade policy
The cover is redesigned: the eight-pointed Alliance star replaces the single Sylvan tree, gold on charcoal. A small change with a big meaning — v2 is about all 22 factions, not one.
And the policy that matters most: every v1 buyer gets v2 free on November 17. The Gumroad library auto-updates. PDF, EPUB, and Kindle formats, DRM-free, lifetime updates — same as v1, carried forward.
v2 is the planned edition, releasing November 17 — every v1 buyer gets it free, so the $9.99 current edition doubles as the v2 pass. The Faction Bundle (the book plus the shirts plus EFURC early access) stays at $149.99 until Black Friday, November 27, when it drops to $74.99 — a week after launch, for those doing the math.
